I've Prayed.... Now What?

We believe that when you’ve asked Jesus to take control of your life, the Holy Spirit comes into you to help you make good decisions, decisions that please God.  God’s goal is to make you like Christ, make you perfect. Though we will never become “perfect”, we are always striving to please God in what we do, say, and think. . The Holy Spirit is our power, teacher, comforter, guide and He is fulfilling.

Some things to consider:

Tell someone!- There are individuals in your life who have been praying for you. You know who they are.  Tell them about your decision to follow Christ. They will be excited for you and will also assist you in growing stronger spiritually.

Church Attendance- Hebrews 10:25 says to “continue meeting together and encourage each other”. There are many purposes of going to church. Connecting with others who believe as you do, praying for the needs of each other, and worshipping God together in music and offering are just a few benefits.

Prayer-Colossian 4:2 says to “devote yourselves to prayer with an alert mind and a thankful heart.” In James it says that prayer has great power and wonderful results.

Reading the Bible- 1 Timothy 3:16-17 says “All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and make us realize what is wrong in our lives.  It straightens us out and teaches us to do what is right. It is God’s way of preparing us in every way, fully equipped for every good thing that God wants us to do.”

Living in a way that pleases God- Ephesians 5 talks about “following God’s example in everything you do” and “Live a life filled with love for others.” Galatians 5:16-17 say that our old way of living and the way God wants us to live will be at war within us. Verse 16 says to “live according to your new life in the Holy Spirit”.

All of the above suggestions are ways to learn to follow the Holy Spirit: tell a friend, attend church, pray, and read your Bible.  If you don’t have a Bible, we would suggest you try the New Living Translation or The Message, both of which are relatively easy to read and understand.

...and may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love really is.  may you experience the love of Christ, though it is so great you will never fully understand it.  then you will be filled with the fullness of life and power that comes from  God.

Ephesians 3:18-19 NLT

How do I know I am REALLY a Christian?

“And now you also have heard the truth, the Good News that God saves you. And when you believed in Christ, He identified you as His own by giving you the Holy Spirit…The Spirit is God’s guarantee that He will give us everything he promised and that He has purchased us to be his own people”         Ephesians 1:13-14

“When the Holy Spirit controls our lives, he will produce this kind of fruit in us: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.”                                   Galatians 5:22-23
