                                   TRANSFIGURATION TRANSFORMS OUR

                                   Week 2 -- Hope

                                   August 27, 2017

Let’s discover some of the reasons why we can have hope in God.

Big “Buts” in the Bible

 I. Noah

Genesis 6:5-8, “So the Lord said, “I will wipe from the face of the earth the human race I have created—and with them the animals, the birds and the creatures that move along the ground—for I regret that I

have made them.” But Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord.

II.  Samson

Judges 16:21-2, “21 Then the Philistines seized him, gouged out his eyes and took him down to Gaza. Binding him with bronze shackles,

they set him to grinding grain in the prison. 22 But the hair on his head began to grow again after it had been shaved.

III. Nehemiah

Nehemiah 1:8-9, ““‘If you are unfaithful, I will scatter you among the

nations, but if you return to me . . . I will gather them from there.’

“But God” Passages -- Genesis 8:1, “But God remembered Noah.”

Romans 5:8, “But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us."

Psalm 73:26, “26 My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.”

                      Week 1 -- Countenance

                      August 20, 2017

Let’s discover some of the ways in which we can demonstrate our connection with Christ.

Glowing people of the Bible, Exodus 34:29-35, Acts 6:15, Matthew 28:2-3, Matthew 17:1-8.

Matthew 5:13-16

Verse 16, “Let your shine shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in Heaven.”

Let our light:

I. Shine

Numbers 6:24-26 says, “The Lord bless you and keep you,

the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you;  the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.”

II.  Show

James 2:18, “Someone will say, ‘You have faith; I have deeds.’ show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by my deeds.

Hebrews 13:16, “Do not neglect doing good and sharing, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.”

III. Shout

Luke 19:37-40 . . .  “I tell you,” he replied, “if they keep quiet, the stones will cry out.

Psalm 146:1 (CEV) “shout praises to the Lord!  With all that I am, I will shout His praises.”

                                  GOD FOLLOWER ATTRIBUTES

                                  Week 3 -- Discernment

                                  August 13, 2017

Let’s discover some of the ways that we can clearly hear God and follow His commands.

I Samuel 3:1-21

Verse 1, “In those days the word of the Lord was rare; there were not many visions.”

God followers increase their discernment through God’s:

I. Wisdom  (verse 8b-9a)

Proverbs 12:15, “The way of a fool seems right to him, but a wise man listens to advice.”

Proverbs 1:7b, “Fools despise wisdom and discipline.”

Proverbs 11:14 (KJV) “Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counselors there is safety.”

II.  Waiting  (verse 9b)

Psalm 27:14 (NLT) “Wait patiently for the Lord.  Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the Lord.

Isaiah 40:31(KJV) “They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; they shall walk, and not faint.”

III. Word  (verse 21)

Hebrews 4:12, “For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.”
